The sapwood is almost always light in colour. This enables a variety of stain finishes to be utilised with Ash. Usually the wood is generally straight-grained with a coarser feel. It is similar to Oak in that it is a hard practical wood, but isn’t known as being as resistant to the wet so is primarily a good indoor wood.
